Cliff Shum

Publicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on September 2, 2016 indicate that California-based Girard Securities broker/adviser Cliff Shum was discharged from a former member firm. The securities and investment fraud law firm Fitapelli Kurta is interested in hearing from investors who have complaints regarding Mr. Shum (CRD# 2973780).

Cliff Shum has spent 18 years in the securities industry and has been registered with Girard Securities in Alameda, California since June 2013. Previous registrations include Edward Jones in Alameda, California (2007-2013); Financial Network Investment Corporation in El Segundo, California (2005-2007); Edward Jones in St. Louis, Missouri (2002-2005); American Express Financial Advisors in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1998-2002); and IDS Life Insurance Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1998-2002). He is a registered broker and investment adviser with 12 US states and territories: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin.

According to his BrokerCheck report, Cliff Shum was terminated from his position at Edward Jones.

In May 2013, Cliff Shum was terminated from his position at Edward Jones following allegations involving “a November 1, 2011 written statement that he provided inaccurate information. The submission of the inaccurate information may have been unintentional.” According to Mr. Shum’s Broker Comment: “I never provided inaccurate information to FINRA. The circumstances surrounding the so-called ‘admission’ refers to a meeting that I was invited to by a former employer… I believe I was set up as a scapegoat to cover up a firm-wide practice that may not have been fully compliant with FINRA regulations.”
